Sr. Zohra Boumtira

Principal and Educator

Sister Zohra has a Bachelor of Islamic Studies and over 25 years of dedicated teaching experience in Canada. She got her training from University of British Columbia (UBC) which helped develop her expertise in meeting the diverse needs of students. Currently, she teaches intermediate students at a private Muslim school, blending academic excellence with values-based education. Sister Zohra has taught children of all ages and abilities, specializing in special education. Her teaching approach emphasizes empathy, adaptability, and lifelong learning.

Br. Omar Abdul Fatah

Online Educator

Grade 6 - 12

Br. Omar Abdul Fatah, teaches the Online classes at Tri-cities academy.

Br. Omar holds a Master of Education in School Counselling from City University of Seattle and a Bachelor of Education from the University of British Columbia. He has also completed an Islamic Comprehensive Diploma and an Advanced Foundations of Arabic Certificate from Al-Ihsan Institute, Canada.

Br. Omar is a Canadian BC-certified teacher and school counsellor. He is a local Khateeb, student of knowledge, and a TEDx speaker. Through Quran 101, he aims to make the Quran accessible, relevant, and meaningful for young people by connecting its teachings to their everyday lives and experiences.

Sr. Shagufta Ahmad

Tajweed Specialist
KG - Grade 3

With over 25 years of teaching experience, Sr. Shagufta Ahmad has dedicated her life to making Qur’an reading simple, effective, and accessible. Teaching since 1985, she has taught at Al-Hidaya for eight years and developed practical learning strategies through her work with a renowned special-needs school in Canada, helping students overcome learning challenges and build confidence.

During her decade-plus in Saudi Arabia, she studied Tajweed under an Egyptian Hafiza and other qualified teachers, deepening her expertise in Qur’anic recitation.

Her unique approach transforms complex concepts into simple, memorable techniques that students can master, retain, and carry with them for life. Her greatest passion is helping every student discover that learning to read the Qur’an can be achievable, enjoyable, and lasting.

Sr. Omina Elshayeb

Sister Omnia has been a Quran and Islamic studies teacher with the renowned Egyptian Academy for past five years and is well versed in Quranic Arabic, the Quran, and Tafsir.
