Our History

Founded in 2017, our Weekend Islamic Academy was established with a simple yet meaningful vision: to nurture confident, knowledgeable, and compassionate Muslim children by providing them with a strong foundation in their faith and fostering a lifelong connection with the Qur’an, Arabic language, and Islamic values.

From the very beginning, we have been committed to providing quality instruction in Qur’anic Studies, Islamic Studies, Arabic, and Noorani Qaida. Our programs are designed to meet students at their level, serving children from Kindergarten through Grade 8, while also offering advanced Qur’an and Islamic Studies opportunities for older students. Beyond academics, we strive to create an environment where children feel a sense of belonging and are encouraged to grow spiritually, intellectually, socially, and morally.

Growing Through Challenges

The COVID-19 pandemic presented unprecedented challenges for our community, but it also demonstrated the strength and resilience of our academy. With the tremendous dedication of our teachers, volunteers, parents, and students, we successfully transitioned to online learning and continued providing Islamic education without interruption.

As restrictions were lifted, we gradually returned to in-person learning while carrying forward the sense of connection, community, and resilience that had sustained us during those difficult years. This experience strengthened our belief that Islamic education is about more than the classroom—it is about building relationships, strengthening faith, and creating a supportive community for our children and families.

A Community of Dedicated Educators

Today, we are blessed to have a team of knowledgeable, passionate, and dedicated educators and volunteers from our local Muslim community. Their expertise, professionalism, and sincere commitment to serving Muslim youth are at the heart of our academy.

Together, they have helped create a learning environment where students can develop a deeper understanding of their faith while building the knowledge, confidence, and character they need to navigate life as young Muslims in Canada.

Our Founder and Vision

Our founder, Dr. Fatma, is a respected community leader whose vision has always been to create meaningful and lasting educational opportunities for Muslim children. She recognized the importance of providing young Muslims with a strong Islamic foundation while helping them confidently navigate their identity and faith within the Canadian context.

Through her leadership and dedication, she has worked to create an environment where children can learn their religion, understand and connect with the Qur’an, develop their Arabic language skills, and take pride in their Islamic identity.

Her vision continues to guide our academy and inspire our commitment to serving future generations.

Growing Together

What began as a humble vision has grown into an academy serving more than 50 families. This growth reflects the trust our community has placed in us and the tremendous support we have received from parents, educators, volunteers, and community members.

As our community grows, so does our responsibility. We remain committed to expanding our programs, strengthening our educational offerings, and responding to the evolving needs of Muslim children and families.

Above all, we strive to provide a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and nurturing Islamic environment where every child feels valued and supported and is encouraged to become a confident, compassionate, and principled Muslim.

Looking Ahead

None of this would have been possible without the blessings of Allah (SWT) and the generosity, trust, and dedication of our community. We are deeply grateful to our teachers, parents, volunteers, board members, and supporters who have contributed their time, knowledge, skills, and resources to our shared mission.

Their collective efforts have transformed a small vision into a growing and thriving academy.

Yet, we recognize that our journey is only beginning.

An academy, much like a seed, requires care, patience, knowledge, and nourishment to grow into a strong and flourishing tree. With the continued support of our community, we hope to build upon the foundation laid over the past several years and create an even stronger future for the generations to come.
